DESCRIPTION:From Concepts to Clinic: a New Era of Nucleic Acid Therapeutics\nSeptember 18 – 20\, 2023 at the Medical Campus of the University in Cologne\, Germany \nNucleic acid-based compounds are highly target-specific and\, compared to other classes of therapeutics\, relatively simple to manufacture for therapeutic purposes. It is now the time to overcome the last hurdles towards the widespread application of this therapeutic opportunity in a growing number of diseases. This goal requires an in-depth understanding of the chemical\, biological and clinical challenges in the field. \nThe CMMC Symposium 2023 – integrating the 37th Ernst Klenk Symposium – will address these challenges and provide insight into the state-of-the-art pharmaceutical development. DESCRIPTION:The American Society for Mass Spectrometry (ASMS) was formed in 1969 to promote and disseminate knowledge of mass spectrometry and allied topics. Membership includes over 8\,500 scientists involved in research and development. Members come from academic\, industrial and governmental laboratories. Their interests include advancement of techniques and instrumentation in mass spectrometry\, as well as fundamental research in chemistry\, geology\, forensics\, biological sciences and physics. ASMS sponsors the Annual Conference on Mass Spectrometry and Allied Topics that is attended by more than 6\,500 scientists. Over 3\,000 papers are presented as posters and talks. SUMMARY:Georg and Christine Sosnovsky Prize for Outstanding Dissertations in the Field of Chemistry 2024
DESCRIPTION:The founders of the prize\, Dr. Christine and Professor Dr. Georg Sosnovsky\, studied chemistry at the Leopold-Franzens University of Innsbruck in the early post-war years. Their professional careers took Georg and Christine Sosnovsky first to Australia and later to the USA (University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee)\, where they spent a large part of their professional lives. \n\n\n\nOn the occasion of their Golden Doctoral Anniversary\, Dr. Christine and Prof. Dr. Georg Sosnovsky endowed the prize named after them in 1999. The Georg and Christine Sosnovsky Prize\, funded by their foundation\, is awarded annually to an outstanding dissertation in the field of chemistry. To be eligible\, the dissertation must have received two “Very Good (1)” reviews. \n\n\n\nThe Board of Trustees\, consisting of one representative from each institute within the Department of Chemistry\, decides on the recipient of the prize in camera. The Georg and Christine Sosnovsky Prize is awarded to the author of a dissertation written at the University of Innsbruck and completed in the previous year. SUMMARY:9th Murnau Conference on Structural Biology
DESCRIPTION:The Murnau Conference on Structural Biology is the biennial meeting of the study group Structural Biology of the German Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (GBM)\, taking place in the beautiful scenery of the Alpine foothills of Bavaria. \n\n\n\nDuring three days in September of 2024\, established leaders of the field and younger scientists will come together for discussions in a relaxed atmosphere. Besides lectures given by invited speakers\, there is room for additional oral presentations and posters. Industry exhibitions and social events further complement the program. \n\n\n\nThe overarching theme of this edition will be “4D Structural Biology”\, where the fourth dimension is understood to be mostly time\, dynamics and/or cellular space.
